Ok. As most of you who actually read these posts know, I (Ryan) am going back to grad school. Well, this semester has been an intersting one so far. One of the classes I'm taking is a "Managing Careers and Organizations" course where the professor challenges you to really think about why it is you work where you work, make what you make, enjoy what you enjoy, etc.....the guy is a very brilliant man - Phd from Yale at 23, top of his class from Wharton Business School, etc. - but what really cracks me up are his off-handed remarks.
I decided after the third class to start writing down some of them so I'll be sure and load them later.
For now though...I had to share one from last night...
We were discussing job/class orientation and training and how to see results from that and then he says...."It's like urinating in a dark suit. You feel all warm inside but it (results) doesn't show up until later."
Yep....that's the kind of education I'm paying a lot of money to obtain. :-) (RPR)

Happy Birthday Preston
Well, today was Preston's first birthday. We seriously cannot believe that he has blessed us with his presence for an entire year already....man, where does the time go? We had a little celebration at the house for Little Man today and were overwhelmed with the turnout from our friends and family, some of which drove a long way for just a few hours of fellowship, to spend the day with us. We are truly blessed!!!
Preston thoroughly enjoyed his birthday cake - as you can see from the pictures above. But as much as he enjoyed the cake, he didn't enjoy the rest of the night as much...

Shortly after waking up from his afternoon nap, Preston was very uncomfortable. He could not be calmed down by rocking, singing, drinking, eating, changing.....anything. For nearly an hour, we tried all we could do to make him feel better. We were wondering if it was the 5 pounds of icing he downed from his cake, an ear infection, overly-tiredness (if that's a word), or what....so, we did what any other (or most any other) first time parents do....headed to the urgent care center. Of course, as we got in the car, he decided he was going to perk up....and when we got to the center, he was the life of the party again....I've been told his mother was very much like that....but I digress....
A very long story short, he has an ear infection - one ear really bad, so I guess it was a good thing we had him checked out. I won't bore you with the problems we encountered with trying to find a pharmacy that was open after 7pm on the weekends....but let's just say, it was not fun!
Ok, I'm going to wrap this up now since Lori's asleep on the couch and Preston's been asleep in his bed for a while now....hopefully, we will all sleep very good tonight!
All-in-all, it was a very enjoyable and blessed day! We got to spend time with some good friends and loving family. Thank you to all of you who were able to be a part of this very special day! We love you all!!!! (RPR)

Snow in the ATL!
So, it snowed here in the ATL last night. I was so excited to be driving home from work and have snowflakes flying towards me. It's almost like watching a screen with 3D glasses on. Once I got home and the snow had begun to stick, I dressed Preston up in his hat and mittens and took him outside. He wasn't quite sure what to do with the snow at first. It was cold and he was hungry, so we just came back inside. After his little belly was full, we tried again. He enjoyed it until he fell down and got all wet. Then he was ready to go in for good. I on the other hand, was having a blast, even though I was cold and wet, too.
I was so hoping to that we wouldn't have to go to work/school today, but that didn't go in my favor. It was very cool though to wake up and see everything (but the streets) covered in snow. It's so beautiful. Everything just looks so crisp, clean, and pure. I'm hopful that we'll get more snow before the spring gets here. (LR)

Happy New Year
Well, it's 2008. After watching this little video, I have to say, "thank goodness 2007 is over...." - haha!
Anyway, one of my professors started his class off with this little clip. Just thought I'd share.
I hope you enjoy! http://www.jibjab.com/originals/in_2007

Black Magic Preston
Well, Christmas has come and gone as has 2007. We're a little behind in our "blogging"....which we sort of figured would end up happening anyway. Maybe we need to make one of our 2008 resolutions to be "more consistency with blogging"....what do you think?
Anyway, here's a short little video clip from our visit with the folks in Cope, SC...you may be asking yourself, "why is there a black cat in a video from Christmas?" so just sit back, click the link, and enjoy. I'm sure you'll smile.
